Everything You’ll Need to Know about Kerrytown

Thank you for clicking on this post! Now you will be introduced to the most artistic and unique area in Ann Arbor: Kerrytown!

As a part of the original village of Ann Arbor, you will find a beautiful blend of tradition and innovation in Kerrytown. Not only the artistic graffiti, sculptures, artworks, and beautiful shop windows around the district, many of the buildings in Kerrytown still have their original beams and bricks. Starting in the late 1960s, the old neighborhood has been converted into markets and stores, which continue to this day. Some stores possess a long history, yet when you walk into it today, you can still taste the same old flavors from decades ago.

Farmers Market:

The Farmers Market is one of the main features of Kerrytown, which has been open since 1919. The market sells fresh fruits, vegetables, bouquets, plants, local food, handicrafts and more. Fruits and vegetables are very fresh, and there are some great processed foods that are worth trying. The market has a refreshing and relaxing atmosphere, and is perfect for a weekend getaway with friends. (Some products in the market are a little overpriced, so don't forget to refer to the prices of other supermarkets!)

Location: 315 Detroit Street

Hours: Saturdays: 7am-3pm May-December; 8 am-3 pm January-April

Wednesdays:  7am-3pm May-December

Tips: Try to bring cash with you or buy credit card tokens at the market office window.

Zingerman’s Deli:

A very local delicatessen in Ann Arbor, Zingerman's Deli has been going for over forty years, from its small beginnings to becoming a signature of Ann Arbor. You will find a great variety of food here! Sausages, bagels, cheeses, homemade coffee, jams and so much more. Even though it's not a big store, there are so many great things here! It's almost impossible to walk out of the store empty handed.

Due to the pandemic, online ordering is now accepted. Please check the official website of Zingerman's Deli for details.

Stores and Shops:

Kerrytown is full of interesting stores! Each one of them is very unique, I'll list some of my personal favorites here, but more are left for you to explore:

[16 Hands]

Handmade goods, you can find beautiful tableware, ornaments, picture frames, jewelry and many more here. I've bought a few hand-painted postcards here, they're so lovely!

[Spun Yarn Store]

If you're interested in knitting, then you must come and check out here! This store is very large and has everything you'll need, not only knitting threads and tools, but also ready-made hats, scarves, sweaters…each of them is one of a kind!

[Teahaus]

A full range of tea stores, their bulk tea is sold in many large supermarkets, but this store has the most variety! They also sell some desserts worth trying.

[Found]

Clothing, furniture, decorations and more could all be found here!

Kerrytown also has many good restaurants, cafes, spa and massage, etc. If you are free during the weekend, get your friends or family together and go for a stroll! :)
