Fun Things to Do on Weekends

Want to take a break from busy days but don’t have much time for a long journey? Aha! Here, I’m going to introduce some fun things you could do as a day trip.

  1. All seasons

    1.  Hiking:
Embracing nature is a perfect way to change your mood and get yourself recharged. There are several nature areas near Ann Arbor waiting for you to explore.

      1. Barton Nature Area
This beautiful woody area is close to Central Campus. Go down the trail and you’ll find a lake and the beauty of the Huron River. Here, people enjoy their picnic around the waterside. You could bike along the river and enjoy the breeze.

  1. Saginaw Forest Trailhead
This nature area is a perfect site for hiking and bird-watching. There are two lakes hidden in the woods. In the winter, the frozen lakes and the birds’ singing will brighten the chilly days.

  1. Summer

    1. Kayaking and Swimming:
Yes! Summer Michigan could be so hot. Before being melted by the heat, let’s jump into the water!

      1. Huron: Argo Park Canoe & Kayak
You may be surprised that we can go kayaking in the Huron River and don’t have to travel far. All we need to do is gather our friends and rent a kayak. Remember to reapply your sunscreen and bring some sandwiches!

      2. Lake: Half Moon Lake, Bruin Lake
If the Huron River cannot satisfy your desire to swim, then Half Moon Lake and Bruin Lake are wonderful places for you to explore. There, you could enjoy the cold water or read books on the beach.

  1. Holland: Lake Michigan, biking, tulips
For me, Holland is a perfect town for traveling on weekends. There, you could find a bunch of great breweries and bike around Lake Michigan. Bring your swimwear, books, and snacks to the beach and embrace the beauty of Lake Michigan. If you visit Holland in May, the tulips will be another exciting thing to see.

  1. Autumn

    1. Dexter:
Dexter, a cute town near Ann Arbor, is the perfect place to visit in Autumn. In the Halloween season, you could find pumpkins in all sizes/ shapes on farms. Pick one for your carving! Dexter Farmers Market is also a good place for getting fresh veggies. Also, the cider and homemade donuts in Jenny's Farm Stand & Cider Mill are the hidden gems!
